Progress in the sheep pasture fencing, a couple of milling/drying/shaping jobs move forward; firewood stacks growing, as are the meat birds and pigs!
Primal Woods
Sawmill Services
Step by step; we loaded up Rob & Robin’s lumber last Friday, and took it to Sauger Lake Wood Products on Monday. Within 3-4 weeks it will be tongue and groove 3/4 inch Red Oak flooring.
That made room for Shane’s lumber in Kiln #2; this if you will recall was milled to 5/8 inch for an accent wall.

I was able to pick the stack up off the air drying foundation and deposit it directly into the kiln, which saved some time.
If you or someone you know are interested in our Sawmill Services, check out our Primal Woods page on the subject.
Pure Maple Syrup
Orders continue to come in, and I really appreciate them. I’ve got more Blueberry Pure Maple Syrup on my to-do list, as we are currently Sold Out! We still have plenty of the Tart Cherry, Vanilla, and the regular of course.
Homestead Rebel
Sheep
This week we tackled the South fence-line, and completed that work early this afternoon.
We have until a week from tomorrow to complete the Sheep Pasture fencing; I think we can do it. I will still have to address the gates, six of them, and a top electric wire, and bottom barbed wire, but I think I can get that done single-handedly; I’ll have to.
And the Post Hole Auger; we’ve probably drilled a hundred holes by now, the auger has paid for itself a couple of times over.
Oxen
The Oxen are in Paddock #10; so again they’ve been moved twice in the last week, from 7 to 9 and 9 to 10.
The grass is a little lite, which is to say, we need rain!
Elmer visible way back in Paddock #10; Boris is right there, too, but is better camouflaged..
Pigs
The Pigs are doing well, two more months, give or take a few days.
Chickens
The Meat Birds after ywo weeks and a day … significant growth since a week ago; these birds will go into the “chicken tractor” soon.
The Meat Birds after one week and a day …
And the gallery of images from arrival day for comparison.

Farmhouse Airbnb
It’s been one stay after another lately, with quick turnarounds … tomorrow will not be an exception; we have four hours to get ready for the next guests.

Books & Such
Another re-read, or re-listen this week, One Second After, by William Forstchen.
Another book regarding what the aftermath of an Electro Magnetic Pulse event might look like is Lights Out: A Cyberattack, a Nation Unprepared, Surviving the Aftermath, by Ted Koppel. I find One Second After more realistic. Preppers typically prepare with some particular event in mind; maybe it’s a hurricane, or a tornado, tsunami, financial collapse … you get the idea. The worst case scenario in my opinion, is the EMP attack.
All the best to you and yours, and may God bless you all.
