Where the people fear the government you have tyranny. Where the government fears the people you have liberty.
I draft this on the occasion of the Michigan House having approved bills requiring what is known as a “universal background check” requirement, and gun registration. Other bills to disarm the citizenry are making their way through committee, including so-called “Red Flag” and “safe store” laws. Since the Democrats now control the House, the Senate, and the Governor’s mansion, I’m reasonably confident that these bills too will be passed. (All have passed as I publish) The first bills passed on a straight party line vote, 56-53.
