Its a good question. To begin formulating an answer; ask another.

Why does the rest of the world hate Jews and genocide them?

Who to trust with that answer?! Ha! It seems the fact that they don't accept Jesus as Lord and Savior is one; money perhaps another; character traits real and imagined, and fabricated; and the list goes on I suppose.

Religious animosity based on zeal for your beliefs fuels the most inhumane, violent warfare of all. No religion is innocent; Judaism, Christianity, Muslim, Hindu, etc. All committed some of the most atrocious acts in the Name of thier diety.

Hate often knows no boundaries, nor follow logic. The ability to articulate WHY you hate often exposed the illogical fallacy of your hatred.

Back to my original question.

No doubt about the various religions. Still, what does that tell me about state vs. nation? States too have committed violent warfare, even more than religions I would suggest, with the 20th century as my example; the list goes on and on, and is dominated not by wars between states it seems, but by wars on people within the various states. In terms of sheer absolute numbers the Soviets and the Chinese have been the worst offenders. Both states and religions are man-made; perhaps that is at the root of the horror show we’ve been witness to. Money and power.

Valid observation, add tribalism.

Its human nature to aggregate in groups that support common thoughts, values, goals and desired outcomes. Supporting successful survival of the tribe (if nation=tribe), even by conducting violence against other tribes is what tribes do.
